Kansas Upholds Transgender Rights: Gender-Affirming Care Ban Veto Stands
In what ways does this event challenge or reinforce your understanding of human rights and equality?
I think gender-affirming care should be able to start around age 16 considering that is the age of consent in most states, If individuals as young as 16 can make decisions as to if they want to be sexually active with someone... don't you think they are also mature enough to make decisions about there body. Anyone that thinks they should be able to deny, prevent, or "ban" someone else from making medical decisions about their own bodies are just power-hungry individuals and shouldn't have a say in it unless they have a valid reason other then it being "unnatural". Individuals that are of 16 years of age and older can also get permanent tattoos, peircings and start birth control in most cases so if it is the fact that people are modifying, changing, or damaging their bodies in an "unnatural" way then you should ban ANY and ALL forms of "unnatural" practices, ways, and treatments for everyone.
